Cookie policy

This website collects some personal information about your visits through the use of cookies.

4.2.1 Definitions, characteristics and applications of the legislation

Cookies are small text files that websites send and store on your computer or mobile device, which are then retransmitted to the same websites upon your next visit. Cookies allow websites to remember your actions and preferences (such as login information, language, font size, other display settings, etc.) so that they do not need to be re-entered when you return to the website or navigate from one page to another. Cookies are therefore used to perform computer authentication, monitor sessions, and store information regarding the activities of users who access a website. They may also contain a unique identifier that allows the user's browsing activity within the website to be tracked for statistical or advertising purposes. While browsing a website, users may also receive cookies on their computer or mobile device from websites or web servers other than the one they are visiting (so-called "third-party" cookies). Some operations cannot be performed without the use of cookies, which in some cases are therefore technically necessary for the website to function properly. There are various types of cookies, depending on their characteristics and functions, and these can remain on the user's computer or mobile device for varying periods of time: session cookies, which are automatically deleted when the browser is closed; and persistent cookies, which remain on the user's device until a predetermined expiration date. Under current Italian law, the use of cookies does not always require the user's express consent. Specifically, "technical cookies," i.e., those used for the sole purpose of transmitting a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary to provide a service explicitly requested by the user, do not require such consent. In other words, these are cookies that are essential for the website to function or necessary to perform activities requested by the user. Also considered equivalent to the technical cookies mentioned above, and therefore not requiring express consent for their use, are "analytics cookies" when used directly by the site operator (so-called "first-party" or "proprietary" cookies) to collect aggregate information on the number of users and how they visit the site—or, where provided by third parties, when appropriate tools are adopted to reduce the ability to identify users (for example, by masking significant portions of the IP address)—and "functionality cookies," which allow the user to navigate based on a set of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided. Conversely, "profiling cookies," i.e., those designed to create user profiles and used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the web, require the user's prior consent.

4.2.2 Types of cookies used by the sites and the possibility of (de-)selection

The eightawareness.it website uses the types of cookies listed in the table below. The website offers the option to (de)select cookies as indicated below, except for third-party cookies, for which the user must refer directly to the cookie selection and deselection methods provided by the respective operators (see "Third-Party Cookies" below).

Cookies are classified into:

  • Technical cookies – navigation or session cookies – strictly necessary for the operation of the site or to allow the user to take advantage of the content and services requested.

  • Analytical cookies, which allow the site manager to understand how users use the site. These cookies do not collect information about the user's identity or any personal data. The information is processed in aggregate and anonymous form.

  • Functional cookies, used to activate specific site features and a series of selected criteria (for example, language, products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service provided.

  • Third-party marketing cookies – These cookies are used by partners of the website www.unifix.it to show you our advertising when you visit other websites, for example by showing you the latest products you viewed on the site. These cookies may also be used to show you products that might interest you or are similar to those you have previously viewed. The use of these cookies does not involve the processing of personal data, but may allow connection to the browser installed on your computer or other devices used during navigation.

  • Third-party cookies, i.e., cookies from websites or web servers other than the Data Controller's, used for the third parties' own purposes, including profiling cookies. Please note that these third parties, listed below with links to their privacy policies, act as independent data controllers of the data collected through the cookies they send; therefore, users should refer to their privacy policies, privacy notices, and any consent forms (selecting and deselecting their respective cookies). Furthermore, with regard to Google Analytics cookies, we have implemented tools to reduce the identifying power of these cookies by masking significant portions of the IP address. These cookies have also been configured so that the provider (Google) uses them exclusively for the provision of the service, stores them separately, and does not "enrich" or "cross-reference" them with other information at its disposal.

WARNING: By disabling technical and/or functional cookies, the site may not be accessible, or some services or functions of the site may be unavailable or may not function correctly, and the user may be forced to modify or manually enter certain information or preferences each time they visit the site.

Below are links to the respective information on the use of cookies (as required by the Provision Identification of simplified procedures for the provision of information and the acquisition of consent for the use of cookies – 8 May 2014):

However, if all or some cookies are disabled, the site may not be accessible, some services or certain functions of the site may not be available or may not function correctly, and/or the user may be forced to modify or manually enter certain information or preferences each time they visit the site.

The user's choices regarding site cookies will be recorded in a dedicated technical cookie, with the characteristics shown in the cookie table. However, this cookie may not function properly in some circumstances. In such cases, users are advised to delete unwanted cookies and disable their use through their browser's settings. User cookie preferences will need to be reset if different devices or browsers are used to access the site.
